Last year, an unexpected challenge affected our family when my dad began experiencing excruciating hip pain. Some days, the simple act of walking became an agonizing task. We sought medical professionals which led to a diagnosis that left us in shock - avascular necrosis, a condition affecting both of his hips.

Avascular necrosis is a condition where the blood supply to the bone is disrupted, leading to the death of bone tissue. In Dad's case, this meant a sudden and severe deterioration in the health of his hips. There is no cure for this condition. It was a heart-wrenching realization that the foundation of his mobility was at risk.

As of right now, he will be receiving a hip replacement surgery on his left hip so that he regains full mobility. While he has avascular necrosis on his right hip, he does not need surgery at this time, but he will at some point in the future.

While insurance provides assistance, the financial burden for the necessary surgeries still falls very heavily on our shoulders. The upcoming procedure is vital to restore Dad's ability to move freely and without pain.

Post-surgery, Dad faces a challenging road to recovery, requiring months of dedicated rest and rehabilitation. This means time away from work and daily activities, adding another layer of strain to our situation.
