Hi friends and family!
I am out here in the good ole place of Tennessee at Lee University! I have three semesters left until I graduate with a BS in Theological and Professional Studies, with minors in Psychology and Christian Ministries. Part of the requirements to graduate is to go on a cross-cultural trip. Lee puts a strong emphasis on stepping outside the world we are accustomed to and engaging a new culture for what it is, gaining more awe and respect for the way other people live their lives. I have chosen to go on the Global Perspectives Israel Tour with the School of Religion, which is the School I am the most a part of. We are leaving on May 15, 2021, and returning on May 25. Some of the things we will get to do include visiting the tents Abraham would have stayed in, hearing lectures from Holocaust survivors and Jewish leaders, participating in Shabbat with local families, baptisms in the Jordan River, walking where Jesus did, and so much more. (I’d love to tell you all about it!) I am so excited to be able to learn about the history of my Christian and Jewish families, the ongoing religious and political tensions between Christianity, Judaism, and Islam, and how people live in Israel now. I believe that this experience will greatly influence how I carry out my ministry after college.
I ask now for your prayers, that our group can go on this trip without being stopped by COVID or unrest in the Middle East. Join me in praying for the safety of those there now and us who are going, and for God to be ever-present in all of it. This trip is $6,600, so I also ask humbly for your financial support. The cost will cover my airfare, lodging, meals, and tours. It will also pay for the 7 class credits I will be gaining by attending this trip. So many of you have given generously in the past to various mission trips I have been able to be a part of, and I thank you so much for your goodness and grace. The money for this experience is due by January 15, 2021. If you are able to contribute financially, I would greatly appreciate it. Your investment in me and this experience means more than I can say. I covet your prayers and thank you so much for your support. Thank you for taking the time to read about my trip.
With all my love,
Aryssa
