Arya the Bengal’s Medical Bills

Please help us, anything makes a difference! Arya is the sweetest cat you’ll ever meet and she is severely injured. Please read our story.

My son’s cat, Arya, got out of his dad’s house over the weekend. She has gotten out before, it’s a very small, safe neighborhood and the neighbors have always taken her in and returned her immediately.

Well this time, some careless jerk hit her or ran her over with their car and fled the scene. We are absolutely heartbroken.

Arya has helped my son’s father stay sane during this pandemic, he is a nurse on the Covid-19 floor at the local hospital, taking care of critically ill patients. Work has been incredibly stressful and exhausting (mentally, physically, and emotionally), and he has had to go long periods of time without seeing family or friends due to the risks. Arya has been by his side through it all. She is an absolutely invaluable part of our lives.

On top of this, our son (2 years old now) and this cat are absolutely obsessed with each other. “Kitty” was his first word, before “mama” or “Dadda”. She is constantly watching over him or playing or snuggling with him. He would be devastated if he never got to see his kitty again.

She was taken to the vet this morning (8/31/20). We were all kind of in denial, hoping that she just sprained something or maybe got into a fight with a dog. Unfortunately it was much worse than we thought. After x-rays the vet informed us she has broken her pelvis and will either need surgery or need to be put down. The vet said it was almost certainly a car that hit herto cause the damage. She is a small girl but shehas a huge heart.

Her cat-dad (my son’s father) just moved into a new house and has a mortgage to pay, along with other bills and has faced less work hours as his hospital has been closed for anything elective and focused solely on covid-19. We are in an absolutely terrible position and cannot imagine being forced to put her down, but we cannot afford the medical bills. We are desperate. We would not be asking for help if we had any other options.

This is her bill from today and the vet estimated around $2800 for the surgery she needs. Blurred out my son’s father’s address (for obvioussafety reasons).

We understand a lot of people are struggling right now with everything going on in the world, but this cat has been our light in the dark and we can’t imagine life without her. We appreciate any donations toward her medical bills, no matter how large or small. Thank you all SO much. ❤️
