Arya, pupil at Q. Learning Nepal
Arya is 6 years old. She is from a marginalised caste (at the bottom) and lives with her grandmother in a remote village in NE Nepali Himalayas. Since birth, she has been unable to use her right leg or hand and has been in need of total care. In the last year, she has been at the Q. Learning Nepal school and is a bright student. Donations have enabled us to buy a wheelchair for her to engage in class-work and we employ a full-time assistant for her.
She now has the opportunity of a lifetime. A hospital near Kathmandu at Banepa HRDC (paediatric orthopaedic and rehabilitation centre) has offered her free tests, medicines and therapy this week. The catch is that her grandmother has no money and has to pay for the journey (600kms across the Himalayas), accommodation for them both as well as food for about 6 weeks.
We have not got exact costs yet but initial estimates suggest in the region of £1,000. Please help us help Arya and.
Thank you!
