Arya Parikh

We are heartbroken to share the devastating news of six-year-old Arya Parikh, the beloved daughter of Dr. Saumil Parikh and his husband Joe.

Arya brought light, laughter, and beauty into the lives of everyone she met. A girly girl with a quiet confidence, Arya loved painting her nails, dressing up, and playing with her older sister Sofia. She was kind, spunky, full of joy, and deeply loved by her doting Papas.

After a routine tonsillectomy, Arya suffered a catastrophic complication. She developed sudden, severe bleeding, and she was rushed to the hospital in the arms of her parents. She had lost so much blood, so briskly, that her heart stopped beating despite the best efforts at stopping the bleeding. The most advanced treatments and massive efforts were deployed by numerous doctors, nurses, and specialists to save her life; however, days later, it was discovered that Arya sustained irreversible brain injury and was declared brain dead.

In a final act of grace and generosity, her family made the selfless decision to donate her organs so that Arya’s spirit could live on in others. Arya would have been so proud of her family’s decision.

Her last days were filled with love: her nails painted pink and blue with glitter, her hair washed and braided into pigtails, a cherished necklace she made herself, just days before, placed gently around her neck. She looked like the princess she got to be during what her dads recall as her happiest day—dressed up at Disney World this past April.

Many have asked how they can help. This GoFundMe has been created to support Saumil Parikh and his family. We know that this fund is just a small token and can never be a replacement for having just one more minute with Arya.
