When we adopted Meryl from NYACC in February 2020, we knew a few things about her: She was 6 years old, loved cuddling and that, eventually, she'd need to have the tumor on her front right paw removed. Lo and behold, a surgical consultation in early March told us just as much — the tumor is due to a type of skin cancer common among her breed, and having it removed will help prevent the cancer from spreading. We spent the following weeks thinking about when to schedule her operation and how to pay for it.
During that time, Meryl had a run-in with another dog on the street who lunged at her and threw her off her feet. We don't know for sure what happened, but since then she's been wobbly at best and unable to run and jump at the worst. Her doctors suspect that she tore in her ACL. And that means more surgery for our girl. Please consider supporting Meryl as she sets out on a long process where she'll come out with mended knees and a tumor-free toe.
