Hi, my name is Arturo, and I’m reaching out with a humble heart after a life-changing bike accident that left me hospitalized and facing a long road to recovery.

On July 12, 2025, what started as a normal day ended in tragedy when I was riding on a bike lane with extremely poor signage. I ended up falling down 3 flights of stairs, and the heavy bike landed on top of me. The accident resulted in two metacarpal fractures on the base and body of my fingers, several fractures on my left wrist, my right hand had a metacarpal fractured thumb and a hairline fracture on the wrist, and several facial lacerations and a broken nose. Leaving me in need of 3 surgeries and will require OT and PT for an extensive period of time.

I will be unable to work for the next 3 months so this resulted on me being terminated from my job since Im not able to perform even the most basic needs of serving or self care and will no longer have insurance to cover any medical expense and living expenses are definitely worrisome and piling up faster than I would like to admit.

As someone who’s used to running bases, planning games, and living life in motion, being sidelined like this is humbling.
