Artur is 29 years old and he’s the heart, soul, and king of our family.

He has not had an easy upbringing, dealing with ‘autistic tendencies’ before finally getting an official diagnosis with autism at 15 years old.

Artur has been dealing with a variety of challenges that his condition brings. Some of those are obvious, like being non-verbal, or difficulty with eye contact. Others are less obvious, like difficulty with his bowels/bathroom and waking up multiple times every single night.

Outside of the more typical symptoms related to autism like routine and stimming - some of these less obvious challenges have brought the most difficulty for him and those who care for him.

Earlier this year, Artur underwent three life-saving procedures that ended up with him needing major surgery removing over a foot of his colon. He was likely living in pain for a long period of time before reaching this point, but he was unable to communicate that with us effectively. 

This was his second major surgery. When he was 18, his hip was shattered due to negligence in care at school. In that instance, he was admitted to hospital over 14 hours after the incident; he could not communicate to us what was wrong or what the pain was.

As his family, we are looking to explore multiple alternative therapies that we believe can help him. 

We have consulted with multiple top specialists on the topics of autism and gastrointestinal health in particular.

All funds raised would be to help Artur get treatments we believe can increase his quality of life. Due to the nature of his surgery, the effectiveness of some of these procedures is likely time sensitive. 

These treatments are outside of jurisdictions offered in the Canadian system, and will require out of pocket expenses, as well as travel to complete.
