Art-o-mat for Denton!

Support Downtown Denton: Let’s Get an Art-o-mat!

As the Director of the Greater Denton Arts Council, I’ve had the privilege of seeing firsthand the incredible creativity and community spirit that make Denton so special. Our downtown is a hub for innovation and art, and we’re excited to help bring something new to this space. The Greater Denton Arts Council is raising $3650 to add an Art-o-mat machine to downtown—a retired cigarette vending machine that has been converted to vend art for $5.00.

The Art-o-mat was created by conceptual artist Clark Whittington, in North Carolina, to sell his own works in 1997. There are 200 machines across the US, with 8 being in Texas. This would be the 4th one to exist in the DFW metroplex. This will literally put Denton on the map for art as people travel to specific locations to collect works from Art-o-mat machines.

This is where you come in. Your donation—whether it’s $5, $25, or more—will go directly toward making this project a reality. The Art-o-mat allows artists a new platform to share their work, and will enhance the vibrant culture that already defines the Denton arts scene.

If you’re unable to donate, simply sharing this campaign can make a huge difference. Let’s come together to bring this innovative and fun addition to Denton!

The funds raised will cover the purchase of the machine (pictured above), delivery and set up, and the first round of art to fully stock the machine.
