My name is Lisa Leggz founder of the Art of Healing Community Complex and I am grateful for all involved that are helping to make this vision a reality! We host art related workshops and events that uplift and inspire unity through the arts and music.
Free Workshops are provided to the women and childen within our community of Little Haiti at the Art of Healing Community Center. These workshops will be filled with the appropriate tools aka knowledge to help educate and empower their lives. We strongly believe in the motto "Each 1,Teach 1". We will be uniting and collarborating with numerous local business owners, entrepreneurs, artists, yogi's, musicians, educators and many other beings that are willing to share their knowledge, aka their gift with the women and children of Little Haiti.
We have already begun to collaborate with local artists. The incredible mural on our building was created by Marcus Blake, a Miami-based multimedia artist.
We will be using the funds raised to:
-Rent & utilities
- Repairs for: flooring, plumbing, Interior construction repairs. We need to re-vamp and organize the interior space in order to open our doors! We are not looking to do anything fancy, just need to repair damages.
- Supplies such as: Art supplies, books (used), chairs, basic furniture, writing tools, notebooks, and much more!
If (and when) we overshoot our mark we will be able to appropriate the additional funds to art supplies and other costs associated with being able to provide free workshops!!
We will also host the Haute Gal Times Gallery's themed exhibits, the current exhibit is "Divinely Feminine". Artists donate a percentage of their sales to the community center. (yay for the artists! )
This campaign is to facilitate an immediate need and was suggested by one of our esteemed team members and instructors(thanks Jonathan! ya'll check out his parkour workshops)
To connect the community we release the Art of Healing News weekly, highlighting local businesses, providing the calendar of workshops and events for the week, featuring the artwork of one of the youth in our after school art program and entertainment via a serial entitled "Luck's Chances".
