Hey everyone! My name is Maya Ines Carino, I am an artist working in a wide variety of materials and mediums, based in Brooklyn, NY. An opportunity has come along where, I believe, travel would greatly inform my artistic practice. Which is heavily interested in cultural studies, the realities of migrant life and the cultural products they make possible.  My intention is to continue exploring the experience of travel and other nomadic practices as a process for artistic research, such as the development of new projects, networks and educational opportunities throughout Europe. After working and studying at The Art Students League of New York, I have spent a majority of the past 3 years traveling around Mexico. During these travels I apprenticed under Simon Martinez Lopez, an artisan who specializes in traditional ceramic techniques in Acatlan De Osorio Puebla, Mexico. I was able to collaborate with various artists on murals, photography projects, paintings, and printmaking, As well as organize and patriciate in art exhibitions.  All donations will benefit Maya Carino's artistic practice while traveling through Europe,  from April to August 2019, where she will be painting, showing and collaborating with other artists. Funds collected will go directly to: - Costs of travel within Europe -Room and board -Art Materials During this trip,  I plan to begin a travel blog on my website to incorporated writing into my artistic practice. All artistic experiences and travel opportunities will also be recorded and shared on social media.
