Help artist travel before losing his sight

Hello. I’m Jim Steere… an artist living and working in New York City. And I am losing my sight. I have been diagnosed with macular degeneration, a disease of the eyes. I am creating this GoFundMe to help fulfill a lifelong dream of a trip to Italy before I lose my vision completely.

I am now blind in my left eye, with diminishing vision in my right. As an artist this is especially devastating. My eyes are my connection to my work, the world, and how I support myself.

The collages that I create are built from small individual pieces of picture that evolve into larger pieces of art. Shortly before my diagnosis, I began a series of collages utilizing the imagery of Italy’s abundant artistic past…

Any contributions, no matter how small, will give me the opportunity to travel and expand this body of work while my limited vision remains.
