Art in the Arctic
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Isaac Caruso. I’m a 29 year old public artist and creative director from the Sonoran Desert. I’ve been making public art for over ten years, painting uplifting images that inspire communities.
This fall I’m embarking on a life changing two week journey through the Arctic Ocean, on board an ice-class sailing vessel as the northern lights just start to kick up. Sharing living quarters with with writers, scientists and other artists our mission is to create a body of work regarding the delicate ecosystem that exists on top of the Earth.
As a muralist, I will gather inspiration and information to paint the northern most mural on the globe in the town of Longyearbyen on the island of Svalbard. This piece will be a commentary on the issue of climate change, that I intend to publicize through news and social media. It will spread awareness on the issue to hopefully make a change that will influence the way we use our resources for the sake of global well being.
I was fortunate to be selected out of a large, extremely well qualified group of candidates to participate on this expedition through theArcticeCircle.org . They have helped subsidize and plan this trip, but to carry out a journey of this magnitude still costs about ten thousand dollars out of my pocket to help pay for trip essentials. It is my hope that the GoFundMe community will give their love and support so that this trip will be feasible, and so that I may give them some art and recognition in exchange. Below are my rewards, I’ll be sending people art made in the Arctic or painting custom murals like the ones in this video! and if you are interested in helping me I’d be extremely grateful. Thank you and have a wonderful day.
