Hi, my name is Lindsey, and I’m raising funds on behalf of my brother, Dustin, for his beloved cat, Artie.

Artie isn’t just a pet — he’s family, history, and healing all in one extraordinary tabby. His story is as unique as he is, and right now, he needs urgent medical care to survive.

Artie’s Incredible Journey

Artie’s life began in an unusual place — a laboratory in New York, bred to be an organ donor for other cats. He still bears tattoo markings in his ears from that time (See pics). When our brother Eric’s cat Lila was in need of a kidney transplant, Artie was flown in as the donor. After the procedure, it was a requirement that Eric was also responsible for the donor cat — and that’s when everything changed.

Our father and Dustin met Artie and immediately fell in love with him. Just six months later, we tragically lost our father during Christmas week of 2015. In those final months, Artie brought our family something priceless — joy, laughter, and a renewed bond between father and son that had been missing for years.

After our father passed, Dustin adopted Artie. He became more than just a companion — he became Dustin’s rock.

A Lifeline Through Grief and Sobriety

When Artie entered Dustin’s life, Dustin was only a few months into his sobriety journey. Artie gave him a sense of purpose, consistency, and unconditional love — helping him through moments of grief, anxiety, and self-doubt. Dustin has now been sober for over 10 years, and he often credits Artie’s companionship as one of the things that helped him stay strong during those early years.

In 2019, our family was hit with another devastating loss when our brother Eric passed away unexpectedly. Dustin took in Eric’s cat, Lakshmi, and together, she and Artie became an inseparable duo. Through it all, Artie remained Dustin’s emotional anchor.

Artie is One of a Kind

Artie is truly unlike any cat you’ve ever met. He’s intelligent, curious, and endlessly affectionate — he can unlock doors, open latches, and once leapt onto a neighbor’s 40th-floor balcony just to try making friends with their cats. Even people who say they don’t like cats fall in love with Artie. He just has that magic.

He senses when someone is hurting. He brings comfort in the darkest moments. He connects people through love and wiley sense of humor through his pranks.

Why We Need Help Now

Just last week, Artie’s health suddenly declined. After expensive testing, we learned he likely has kidney failure, and he urgently needs further diagnostics and treatment to survive. Dustin has already spent everything he has trying to get answers, but he’s hit a financial wall. Artie’s condition is critical, and time is of the essence.
