They told us not to have high expectations. We told them they didn't know Arthur.

Born in the middle of a pandemic, Arthur decided to keep life interesting from day one. He kicked off his journey with a stint in the NICU, followed by a flurry of tests, MRIs, and a diagnosis as rare as a lottery win—a KDM1A gene mutation (one of only about 30 cases worldwide reported), alongside grey matter heterotrophia, cerebral palsy, and autism.

The experts said he wouldn’t walk or talk. Arthur, apparently, didn't get the memo.
But defying those odds didn't happen by accident. Arthur works harder before breakfast than most of us do all week. Since he was a baby, he has lived a life of intensive therapies, fighting to master the everyday things the rest of us take completely for granted:

- Physiotherapy & Hippotherapy (therapeutic horse riding): Where he put in the grit to learn how to stand, walk, and navigate stairs.

- Occupational Therapy (OT): Where he works tirelessly on the fine motor skills needed to write, hold utensils, and dress himself.

- Speech & Behavioral Therapies: Helping him find his own ways to communicate, connect, and safely interact with the world around him.

Today, at nearly six years old, all that hard work is paying off. He isn’t just walking—he’s running (his own custom, joyful version), keeping up with his big siblings, and melting the hearts of absolute strangers by randomly holding their hands and leaving them grinning.

But Arthur's superpower—his pure, unfiltered love for everyone and everything—is also our biggest worry. Since he is non-verbal, lacks depth perception, and has zero concept of danger, a simple walk requires constant vigilance. He craves freedom, but roads, ledges, and wandering are constant risks.

The Mission: Enter the Autism Guide Dog.

Arthur needs a professionally trained, four-legged guardian angel. A service dog will give Arthur the independence he deserves, act as his physical anchor to stay safe, and give us (his very tired, very devoted parents and siblings) a collective sigh of relief.

With publicly subsidized waitlists completely closed, our only path forward is to pay out of pocket for a certified service dog ourselves. The cost of breeding, raising, and intensively training a specialized autism guide dog is $35,000.

Arthur has spent his whole life defying the odds and bringing joy to the world. Now, we just want to keep him safe while he does it. If you can donate, share, or send good vibes, you are helping buy a little boy his freedom—and his new best friend.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
