Arthur Bristow
Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Natasha Davidson and I’ve been a proud parent of boys at Yokine Primary School for going on 9 years. I love my school and I love my community.
Very sadly, our beloved traffic warden, Arthur Bristow, passed away after a brief illness at the end of 2024. Arthur was a stalwart member of our community for ELEVEN years, and he kept our kids safe at the Woodrow Ave crossing in rail, hail, shine, and from crazy drivers!
Arthur loved birds and tamed some local djiti-djitis to eat mealworms from his hand. The birds even brought their babies to meet Arthur and learn he had treats! My boys have many happy memories of Arthur over the years and helping to feed the birds.
I would love for local families who knew and appreciated Arthur to contribute a few dollars towards a memorial. I have Mrs Bristow’s blessing, as well as the City of Stirling and the Police Department/ Children’s Crossing Unit.
I have purchased a corten steel branch with perching djiti-djitis, and will soon order a stainless steel plaque (200x150mm through Talbot Walsh Engraving and Signs) with the following words:
In memory of Arthur Bristow
Beloved school crossing guard
2013-2024
A friend to all
Upon receipt of the memorial plaque (I already have the branch) I will organise a time and date for everyone interested to come watch us install the memorial onto one of the large fig trees by the school crossing on Woodrow Ave. I will also invite the current traffic wardens, Sarina and Brian, and Mrs Bristow herself.
The total cost of the plaque and corten steel branch is $340. A few dollars from each family who knew Arthur will help create a permanent token of appreciation.
Thank you so much for your consideration.
May Arthur rest in peace.
P.S. Your support within one hour of this post has been overwhelming!!! If we raise more than is required for the 200x150 plaque, then I will order a larger one instead!!!
