Help Art by Amanda expand!
Hello everyone, I’m Amanda!
As some of you know, and the rest are about to find out, I am an artist and graphic designer running my own business Nelson Graphics for 6 years now. Like most people, I’ve had my ups and downs, but I’ve always fought back. With the support of family and friends I’ve followed my goals and dreams of a life filled with art, in all its ways. And now I'm asking for a little help to take my business to the next level.
While my current clients know me for bus. collateral and graphic design projects, my friends and family know me for something else…
… their ever ready photographer. From anniversary parties and surprise birthdays, I’ve been there with my camera, capturing those precious moments.
Destination wedding? Baby shower? No problem! All this practice at several friends’ weddings has led me toward a new venture, wedding photography, shooting for dear friends, Stacey & Scott this past October!
There's nothing more satisfying than capturing just the right moment for a client. The momentum has been growing for years, but life has often gotten in the way, until now.
Four years ago, I ended up in the ER, clinging to life. Dealing with the loss of my gall bladder and a damaged pancreas, things were tough.
But I continued pushing forward, moving to San Francisco and pursuing my art and photography. Even a dislocated elbow and a following nerve relocation surgery couldn’t stop me from my favorite pastime.
Recently, I was very sick once again. Believing my pancreas attacks worsening, numerous tests were performed, hoping for answers. After four years, the doctors no longer believe I have chronic pancreatitis, and that my problem is treatable.
This is a new lease on life, and the kick in the rear I needed to ask for help to realize my dreams and bring my art to the world!
Some of my most loved shots would be even better if I had a professional grade camera, and the proper equipment. Of course, these things come at a price. I’ve invested as much as I can, with the health issues over the years, the bills have added up. But I’m ready now, and with a little help from you, we can make this happen.
Over a third of my $$ goal will be gobbled up by my new camera and a lens. Equipment like tripods, memory cards, extra camera flash, the business license for ABA Design + Photography and insurance cover another third. The last third would help pay off the new laptop I did buy on credit, finish paying my hospitals bills and buy more inventory so I can get started!
Registering for my first festival, the Livermore Art Walk in October, I sold prints, canvas art, and succulent gardens. As soon as I have my business license, I’m ready to sign up for several festivals in San Francisco.
I don’t know what makes me more nervous, asking for help, or finally putting my art out there for the world to see, but I’m ready to continue working hard and making you all proud.
And I am not asking for a simple hand out, I’m willing to work for it! Every penny donated to get Art by Amanda up and running will mean the world to me. More than a few pennies will earn you a little bit of art and/or design. Check out my reward levels and help me get to the next level.
