Art2Go Kits

When others are shutting down due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are overwhelmed with request for help. It is a horrific situation for everyone, but when we are uniquely qualified to offer help, hope and joy to thousands, it is a blessing.
With shelter-at-home requirements, children have been isolated and will continue to be isolated even throughout the 2020 school season. The one required subject the schools have not successfully bridged with on-line solutions is art.
During the pandemic, Old Town Artisan Studios, a 501(c)(3) charity, has partnered with several organizations authorized to distribute food and shelter provisions to families living in our Coachella Valley. Through them, we have delivered almost 12,000 Art2Go kits; single user kits of clay or watercolor, canvas and acrylics and more.
We have several charities that rely on us to provide them with Art2Go kits, and several more charities asking for help. Sadly, we cannot keep up with the demands. Donations are converted immediately into kits but several thousands of families line up every day for aid; our kits reach only a few in need.
Because these kits are so therapeutic and totally flexible, we have been asked to build kits for our autistic clients, our elderly care homes, our facilities for the severely disabled, our military bases and organization that assist those with Alzheimer’s. The list is virtually endless.
For every $10,000 we raise we can build 3,000 art kits. Our kits are built with an army of volunteers. The distribution of kits is made through FIND Food bank, DSUSD, Coral Mountain Foundation, The YMCA and Boys and Girls Clubs. In a time of stress and high anxiety, having an art project to distract from the daily pressure is so healing to the soul.
