Art on Wheels: Healing Through Creativity
Donation protected
I'm an artist, arts practitioner, cancer survivor and cancer advocate. Through my business LLC, Red Lotus Arts, I facilitate art wellness workshops throughout Brooklyn, NY, to underserved populations as well as other cancer patients and survivors.
"I believe wellness thrives through art and community, empowering creativity and fostering connection."
My work and practice of art is a personal healing tool, and being able to share that with kids, other cancer survivors, senior citizens, and dementia patients has solidified my purpose to spark joy, inspiration, and healing through art for the well-being of myself and others.
I recently entered a competition to use the prize money for purchasing a van and renovating it to create a mobile art gallery. While I did not win the 40K prize, I learned some valuable information about myself and my community.
I did not feel disappointed in the outcome but felt empowered for having come out of my shell of shyness to define who I am and what I wanted to achieve. I feel resilient and determined to reach my goal. I learned about the kindness and support of the community that I serve. I received words of encouragement and contributions from people all across the world who believed in me as much as I believed in myself.
While those donations went to the National Breast Cancer Foundation and will provide support and services to a great deal of women, I know that raising funds that will go directly to me will help to benefit and impact my direct community.
A Red Lotus Arts Mobile Gallery will go beyond the confines of physical spaces, fostering creativity and well-being wherever it roams.
This vehicle will allow me to streamline my process and expand opportunities for growth as I continue to collaborate with city agencies and private organizations to facilitate activities and engagement that contribute to holistic wellness.
In my community engagements, I witness the profound impact of art on individuals' lives. Guiding workshops for various groups, from foster care, corporations, hospitals, and senior day care centers, I've witnessed moments of breakthrough and self-discovery.
In appreciation of your donations, I will gift contributions of $30 and up with an interactive art card. These Augmented Reality art cards represent mindfulness.
