Irving Epstein Art Legacy Project

Donation protected

The Story
My Dad, Irving Epstein,  was an amazing artist. When he passed away, I was left with over 3,000 pieces of artwork crammed into suitcases, envelopes and musty boxes in two different cities. It was daunting. I believe strongly that his work should be protected, seen and shared with the world. In order to create exhibitions I need to catalogue and preserve his artwork.  I am framing this campaign as a tribute to my Dad, the Artist, with the hopes of completing this fund-raiser in his honor on Father's Day, June 18, 2017.  I hope that those of you who are moved by this project will contribute whatever you can, large or small, to help my Dad’s work see the light of day again.

Progress thus far:
My aunt and Irving’s sister, Rose Mosner, a fine artist in her own right, suggested we begin a project to protect, sort, catalogue and document each piece. With the generous support of a family foundation we started this project in 2016. We were able to hire a knowledgeable artist/documentor/curator, Patricia Dubroof and her assistant Rachel Archambault. Together they made tremendous progress; 1,500 paintings, collages, sculptures, reliefs, digital prints and other works were rescued and are now safely catalogued, preserved and stored. However, my father was a busy man and there is still quite a lot more art that needs saving and preparing for exhibitions!

Go Fund Me
This family foundation continues to believe in this project and has generously offered to match funding up to $30,000. With your help we can continue to preserve his work, and have live and online exhibitions.

Honor Him
In my father’s 93 years there were few occasions where he wasn’t creating art. He had an active imagination, inventive spirit, a unique eye and very busy hands. When he passed in 2013 we were overwhelmed with the quantity and quality of work he left behind.

My father's art is lively, full of movement, color and excitement. It breaks my heart to think of how many of his pieces have been damaged by how they were stored. These pieces are meant to be enjoyed.

Gratitude
Thank you for helping preserve my father’s legacy! To thank you for your support we are offering rewards for different levels of donations.

Sincerely,
Robert Epstein
