What we do:
Art in Mind is an artist led non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting wellbeing and mental health through creative practice.
We provide a safe and inclusive environment where artistic endeavours are nurtured and encouraged.
How it works:
We provide a far-reaching community outreach programme encouraging diversity. We engage people with no previous experience to create art through artist led hands-on workshops and talks.
We provide studios at sub commercial rates to enable creatives to have a dedicated place of work within a cohort of like-minded people.
Our gallery space is host to an ongoing programme of exhibitions featuring a mix of well-established artists and nurturing new and up and coming talent.
We promote artist led public events to bring the conversation surrounding mental health issues to the fore and engage the wider society.
Art in Mind provides multidisciplinary artists the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge in arts and business skills.
Objectives:
· Create a national network of community engagement.
· Facilitate engagement between artists and community groups.
· Continue to develop more spaces to facilitate artists of all disciplines.
· Build a collaborative community of artists.
· We will document the process and show demonstrable results of wellness through art practice.
Outcomes:
Our goal is to build a growing yet sustainable culture where wellbeing and art are recognised as synonymous. We will provide a resource facility for all sections of our society to utilise for the common good. Art in Mind aims to become a national body providing outreach and support.
For too long Galway has required a dedicated space for artists of all kinds to create work. We are seeking funds through all means possible in the form of grants, sponsorship, events and commissions.
We've secured our location but require additional funds to support our part time staff and the development of the spaces. We are beyond grateful to the organisations & individuals who have shown their support. We will be hosting a launch party in September to thank everyone for making this artist's dream a reality.
