The 2024 Art for Democracy fundraiser is on! Brought to you by artists Lena Wolff and Hope Meng, in collaboration with SaveArtSpace, the VOTE campaign is a public art and community engagement project that encourages voter participation for reasons related to social and environmental justice.
This year, we will ship tens of thousands of free printed VOTE posters across the country ahead of November 2024 AND we’re expanding our billboard effort with the non-profit organization SaveArtSpace, which allows for tax deductible donations to the campaign. (SaveArtSpace partners with artists to transform advertisement space into public art.)

How the Project Works
- Lena and Hope design a set of images related to critical issues of our day, encouraging people to vote for the planet, for reproductive freedom, for LGBTQ rights, racial justice, and democracy at large.
- A public fundraiser is launched to enable the production and distribution of the campaign.
- We organize with volunteers and GOTV orgs across the country to distribute the posters, with an emphasis on swing states, in addition to providing free downloadable files on our website for independent printing.
- The posters end up in windows in libraries, restaurants, cafes, community centers, shops and people’s homes, from coast to coast.
- SaveArtSpace places our billboard designs in swing states where they will provide maximum impact.
How the Funds are Used
Funds raised go directly to project development, production, and distribution.
For 2024, our goal is to print and distribute a minimum of 30,000 posters for national circulation beginning this summer. Posters are printed on high quality, durable paper and cost approximately $1 each to print and ship.
Billboards range from $1500-4500 each, depending on location. Our goal is to place billboards in at least 6 swing states in the fall of 2024.
If we raise more than our initial goal, any extra funds will pay for additional billboards to go up in critical cities.
On Poster Distribution
Democracy should not have an entry fee! Our posters are never sold and always given away for free. While we can't send single posters to donors, we send posters in bulk shipments of 100 to 500 at a time to people who sign up to become volunteer distributors in their communities. If you would like to be a volunteer distributor in the critical swing states of Arizona, Georgia, Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina, please contact us. (We also ship to other states, but we prioritize the bulk of the production to ship to swing states specifically)
Once the posters have shipped out, our website will be updated with pickup locations across the country.
Project History
Lena Wolff sparked the VOTE poster project in 2018 on the heels of a widespread anti-hate campaign she released in 2017 in the San Francisco Bay Area. Since the inception, over 100,000 free VOTE posters have circulated across the country in the past 4 election cycles, with a focus on swing states. Our partnership with SaveArtSpace began in 2022, with the VOTE for Reproductive Freedom billboard.
