Art for Aid: Z's Top Surgery Fund

My name is Z. I am a non-binary artist from Florida, and I am looking to raise money for my much-needed top surgery in May 2025. As a thank you for your donation, you will receive an art print, hand-carved and printed by me.

For years, I have managed the gender dysphoria around my chest by wearing a binder, using TransTape, and just ignoring it. I hoped that these things would be enough to mitigate the festering ache I feel about my chest, but they are not.

Since coming out, my chest dysphoria has only worsened. I wear a binder every day, for as long as I can. This has impacted my posture negatively and caused inflammation in the cartilage in my chest. TransTape, a type of medical adhesive tape that flattens the breast tissue, is helpful in alleviating my dysphoria, but it is incredibly painful and expensive. It often results in blisters and severe eczema flare-ups. Disassociating from my chest and body has become unsustainable for me. It has greatly affected me socially and in intimate settings. I cannot go on feeling this disconnected from my body. I can’t continue damaging my skin and back for such a limited amount of relief. At this point, top surgery is my best option.

My top surgery date is May 5th, 2025. I am incredibly lucky that my insurance is paying for the surgery, but I still have to cover my deductible, travel costs, medical supplies, and the time off from work I will need to recover.
