Art Campbell's lifesaving double lung transplant

Donation protected
The Art of my heart had only one option for his terminal lung disease. Almost a year of rigorous testing qualified him at Mass General Hospital. We expected to wait heartbreaking months for the right donor. In a blessed turn, Art was called for surgery less than a week after being approved. On Father's Day, with us waiting by, Art was given new lungs.

We had little time to prepare for the big changes required for an organ recipient. And Art's job offers no medical leave. The joy of survival is huge. But we've got tough recovery months ahead. I've spent decades helping nonprofits raise money for great causes. This time it's very personal--for Art, our daughters, granddaughters, and myself.

The funds will help with professional assistance; prescription copays; safety change to our house access; medical equipment required for the complicated tracking required; frequent Boston appointnents (co-pays, travel); and lost wages. The first year for transplant patients is the most challenging. Infection. Rejection. Living a life monitored and controlled by medication regimen.

We've received the most incredible gift of more years. Please help if you can so that we can continue the good fight and honor Art's donor.
