Arson Attack on Asian-Owned Business in Oakland

I’m making this GoFundMe on behalf of my partner, David Nguyen, who manages Dimensional Outlet Furniture with his family in Oakland, California. Operated by Vietnamese immigrants since 2006, the family business served the San Francisco Bay Area communities - even partnering with local Oakland charities to provide furniture to unhoused individuals.

On May 15, 2022, at approximately 2:00 pm in Oakland, California an unknown individual entered the furniture store and poured fire accelerant on various pieces of furniture then proceeded to set a fire with a lighter. Within seconds, furniture is in flames and thick black smoke fills up the store. Fortunately, no lives were lost but the business has taken a huge toll.

As a result of the arson attack, the business estimates about 100k to 150k worth of inventory has been lost. According to a Public Adjuster, they assessed the damages to the business to exceed what is covered in the insurance plan.

Additionally, due to the damages to the infrastructure, the store will be out of business for 2+ months causing profit loss and laying off workers until the business is up and operating.

There is a police report filed with Oakland Police Department and there is no progress in regards to identifying the suspect. As seen in the video, the suspect is wearing a blue/yellow/white sweater.
