Arran McInnis and Family Ruptured Appendix Fund
Dear Friends, Family, Neighbors, Seattle Music and Hospitality Communities, and Caring Strangers,
Two weeks ago, Arran fell ill with appendicitis. We did not know what was happening and wrote it off for far too long as a virus or food poisoning, and we just waited for it to pass. During that time, his appendix ruptured badly, and began to poison his body. By day 4 of pain and vomiting, we realized it was high time to seek medical assistance. When Arran arrived at the hospital, he was fighting a major infection, sepsis, and everything that goes along with it.
He has now been in the hospital since June 28th, and is continuing his battle to get well. He has been put through the ringer with surgery and a variety of complications. Tomorrow he will undergo yet another surgery, that we are really hopeful will help him to turn a corner to recovery.
We do not currently know where his medical bills are at, but with three CT scans, X-rays, surgeries, and almost two weeks in the hospital thus far… I don’t even want to guess.
At this point it is clear that when he finally comes home we will need HELP! Really with everything. We very well may need to leave our precious island life to keep Arran closer to necessary ongoing care. Moving is crazy expensive, especially where we live. We may need to hire a live-in caregiver so that I can return to work full-time. We will likely need to get sweet Arrow into daycare or preschool, again, so I can go back to work full-time. We will need help with bills, both medical, and just to keep a roof over our heads. We will need help with food… like I said, with everything. That being said, if you cannot donate, but you CAN babysit, walk our dogs, make us a meal, etc, please reach out. (Island life adds an extra layer to that, but if you want to come out to the island for the day with a meal, or the offer to babysit, please contact me to come on out!)
I’m not usually great at asking for help, but I recognize at this point, that we really truly need it. If you can donate even $5, we appreciate it SO much! If you cannot donate, please still SHARE SHARE SHARE!!! We are not on Facebook, so definitely share there! We are on IG, so we will be adding a link to our GFM on there.
We love and appreciate our communities to the ends of the Earth, and want to express our one million thank yous in advance!
Take care of yourselves and your families! If something feels off, please go to the DR immediately! I wish so much I’d taken him in right away, but those of us who are uninsured and underinsured tend to let things go too long. Please don’t make the same mistake we did. Just freaking go! Love to you all.
