Help Support Deborah’s Recovery

On August 3rd, our dear friend and neighbor Deborah was in a devastating motorcycle accident with her husband. She suffered a severe skull fracture (even wearing a helmet) and remains in the Surgical ICU, heavily sedated as her body fights to heal. Comparatively, her husband Aitch of 31 years is doing okay and has been at her side everyday, along with their daughter Brittney, and Deborah’s sister Eli. Every day is a battle, and every bit of love and support from her community makes a difference.

If you live in Roxborough, chances are you know Deborah DeHeyman. She’s been a part of this community for over 30 years — working the local elections for two decades, lending a helping hand to friends and neighbors, at the pool at the Rec, and maybe even teaching your child along the way. You may have passed her while she was walking her dog, shared a conversation on a sunny afternoon, admired her love of nature, or smiled at her magical Halloween displays that have become a neighborhood tradition.

Deborah has always shown up for her community, and now it’s our turn to show up for her. Her road to recovery will be long and filled with challenges — from mounting medical bills to the months of rehabilitation she will need once she is fully awake.
