Around the World in 80 Days - Leman Challenge 2021

Leman Solicitors are raising money on behalf of Pieta, Dublin Samaritans, Aware and SpunOut.ie 

Each year Leman Solicitors runs the highly successful ‘Leman Challenge’ that everyone gets involved in firm wide to raise money for charity. To date we have raised over 250k for numerous charities in need. For 2021 Mental Health is our chosen area which we intend to raise money and awareness for.

This year has been particularly difficult for everyone, especially mentally. It’s important that we do not forgot to look after everyone’s mental health in these hard times. We have therefore chosen four fantastic mental health charities, that we will split the proceeds equally with at the end of the challenge. The four chosen charities are:

3. Aware (https://www.aware.ie/)

4. SpunOut.ie (https://spunout.ie/)

The Challenge is called “Around the World in 80 Days”, in which we as a firm intend to ‘travel’ the circumference of the earth (40,075km) over the course of 11 weeks . It will begin on the 22nd of March 2021 and will end on the 7th June 2021.

There are a range of activities that will count as individual mileage, i.e. running, cycling, walking, rowing, and swimming, all while adhering to COVID 19 restriction guidelines. We have split the firm into two separate teams, whereby each team will race “around the world” and pass through 11 destinations on their journey to Tokyo, where both teams will end up at the end of the 11 week period.

Each team will be racing against one another, while experiencing the culture of various cities on their routes once a week. There will be 3 challenges that the individuals can complete at each destination. For example – ‘New Orleans; host a Mardi Gras themed night’.

By incorporating travel and 1 destination city per week, each team will stamp their passport collectively on their way to Tokyo. It will be a race, and each team will be monitored weekly to see how each team progresses. Our intention is to make it as fun as possible, while we raise money for these fantastic mental health charities.
