Around the world in 60 days for Mitochondrial
As many of you know our colleague Carl's niece Leah has recently been diagnosed with Mitochondrial Disease.
This is a life limiting illness which causes organ systems to fail and stop functioning.
There is no cure and the outlook for people with Mitochondrial Disease depends on how many organ systems are affected and the severity of the disease.
While some children and adults may live near normal lives, others may experience drastic changes to their health over a very short period of time. This is the case with Carl's niece Leah.
The Lily Foundation is the UK's leading mitochondrial disease charity and the largest charitable funder of mitochondrial research in Europe. Their mission is to improve the lives of people affected by mitochondrial diseases, while working towards a future where mitochondrial diseases can be effectively treated or cured.
For further information click the link below.
To raise money for this charity a group of Carl's friends, colleagues & their families are stepping their way around the world in 31 days throughout the month of October.
This equates to 50,000,000 steps, this is based on the distance from London to Sydney, Sydney to Hawaii, Hawaii to New York and then New York to London.
We will appreciate any donations/sponsors towards this.
Many thanks
