Aron Kalaii Hawkins: Help Family Lay Him to Rest
Donation protected
Aron Kalaii Hawkins left this planet on February 21, 2023. One of the last things he wrote in his notebook was:
"I FORGIVE. I RELEASE. I LET GO! TODAY, AND SO IT IS"
It is time for us all to rise and help his family lay his vessel to final rest. The Hawkins Family will host services on Saturday, March 25th. His burial will be on Sunday, March 26th at Maryland National Memorial Cemetary. We ask that you all share this Go Fund Me and help his family with the finances of his funeral.
His passing came as an immense shock to all of us. There are no words that fit the sadness his friends & family share. In his heart, Aron was a warrior, who showed up for everyone who needed him. He connected the strangest & most distant communities of people, thought, art & music; he saw past illusions, stereotypes & our fears of love and family. He is a visionary who shared his light through his heART work. Whether painting, creating music, sharing history, or being goofy, Aron fully showed up & was always working on his life's storyboard. Remember Aron through taking action & engaging with your dreams, your heart, & taking risks to bring your vision to fruition.
His New Mexico community rallied to hold a memorial for Aron on Saturday, March 4th. We didn't have enough time to set up other ways for people to donate to his funeral or for a more widespread gathering. Now is the time. There will be more events in the future, to share his art, music, & undeniable magic. If you experienced any of that, please, take some time to donate to this ever important cause.
Everyone is invited to celebrate this being-host private parties, collaborate with new artists, share YOUR art & essence. If you would like to see his art, it is on display at 3015 Monte Vista Dr. NE In Albuquerque, near UNM. It's a rare opportunity to see a large portion of his collection all in one place. Please get in touch at [email redacted] to make sure the space is open before coming.
We are still raising money to:
1. Support his family as they navigate the finances of his funeral; including the various trips from Virginia to New Mexico to manage his affairs.
2. Preserve AND share his art.
3. Create a Non-profit/Collective for his art, music, & teachings.
4. Pay for the operational expenses at the studio space (previously Black Cat Theater) that is being tended in honor of him- by way of Trey Pickett for community dance, art & music.
This is not the end of his story; it is the beginning of his LEGACY. We will keep in touch with everyone about future events, seeds & dreams. Thank you for joining AND supporting as we let him go. Gone But Not Forgotten, You Are Love(d)!!
Dance in Your Rhythm. Be in Your Heart. Walk in Strength.
