Arnie's Medical Care

Hi my name is Macie and I am the dog mom to a 1 year old Belgian Malinois/Doberman mix named Arnie. I adopted Arnie last May when he was 4 months old and had spent his whole life in the shelter. Over the last 8 months he has grown into not only my best friend but the sweetest, goofiest, and best dog a girl could ever ask for.

Unfortunately, back in September when Arnie and I were on one of our daily runs he ran into a large flower pot. At the time he fell over and struggled to stand up. Shortly after this accident he started to drag his paw to the point of having almost no nails left. He was started on medication to help provide relief, this worked great but as soon as he came off the medicine he got worse. This is when our vet sent us to a Veterinary Neurologist. We tried 12 more weeks of medicine and strict relaxing.... what I called "house arrest." Unfortunately, after the 12 weeks of medication ended Arnie has again declined. Some of Arnie's symptoms are struggling to walk, losing his balance, refusing/unable to walk up the apartment stairs, dragging his paws, and randomly falling without the ability to stand unassisted. The veterinarians in charge of Arnie's care think that the accident with the flower pot has triggered an underlying congenital defect to be exacerbated or cause an injury in his cervical spine. In order to find a definitive diagnosis he has to have an MRI, after the MRI is when we will discuss if surgery is the best course of treatment for him. The MRI alone is about $3000 and the surgery can be up to $8000. His MRI is scheduled to be tomorrow (3/7)!

Arnie loves running, playing with other dogs, cuddling with anyone and everyone he meets, and running through mud puddles (but hates the ocean and rain lol). For the last 12 weeks he has been unable to do any of these things and I hope that we can find treatment to allow him to do all his favorite things again. All funds raised will be used directly for Arnie's medical care and treatment.

Thank you to everyone for taking time to read our story and for donating to my sweet boy. We are appreciative of every penny donated!
