Hi, my name is Andres Montes de Oca, and I’m reaching out during one of the most difficult moments of my life. I’m a U.S. Army veteran, a former volunteer firefighter, and currently a paramedic working in the emergency department of a hospital a job I’ve dedicated myself to because I believe in serving others when they need it most. However, I find myself on the other side as the one in need. A short time ago, I was involved in a vehicle accident. Thankfully, I walked away without any immediate physical injuries. But during follow-up scans and evaluations, doctors discovered something completely unexpected: a brain tumor.

What started as a precautionary medical check quickly turned into a life-altering diagnosis.

Why I’m Asking for Help

I’m now facing a long and uncertain medical journey. From specialist consultations and imaging to the real possibility of brain surgery and extensive treatment, the path ahead is overwhelming physically, emotionally, and financially. As someone who has spent years responding to emergencies and caring for others, it’s incredibly hard to ask for help. But I know I can’t do this alone. I’m hoping to raise $6,000 to help cover the critical costs ahead, including:

Neurological evaluations, MRIs, and testing

Brain surgery (if required), hospitalization, and post-op care

Radiation, medication, and other treatments

Temporary loss of income and essential living expenses

Recovery and rehabilitation support

I’ve always believed in answering the call to serve. From the U.S. Army, to being a volunteer firefighter, to now working as a paramedic in the ER helping others has been my purpose and my passion.
