Army Mom and Spouse Bone Marrow Transplant Costs

Hi,

 

My name is Tony Gioia, and I'm raising money for my good friend Merrilea Murray.

 

Merrilea is a US Army veteran's spouse and mother of an active duty US Army soldier. Her husband Harold served in the Army for 12 years. Her son Brendan is currently serving, stationed here at Fort Carson. She also has two daughters, Katelyn (18) and Riley (7).

 

After 14 years of targeted chemotherapy to treat leukemia, Merrilea is now at the point where she needs a bone marrow transplant. Every line of therapy available to her has eventually failed.

 

Merrilea will have her bone marrow transplant in mid-April, and its costs are very high. While the procedure itself is covered, the ancillary costs are not.

 

I am asking for help for her family to cover the extensive cleaning services that are necessary and for food service and transportation. Merrilea has to have daily cleaning services and fresh, healthy food to help her recover while her immune system is severely compromised. Food service kits will benefit due to the need for a caregiver to be with her 24/7. The caregiver is not allowed to go anywhere without her.

 

Merrilea's vehicle must also be detailed so that it has been wholly disinfected and dust-free as she needs to travel to the hospital and physical therapy several times a week.

 

Merrilea's husband Harold has had to quit his second job to take care of their 7-year-old, who has severe anxiety disorder and autism, leaving them with a need to ask for your help.
