The Denver North High School Army JROTC Cadet staff has planned an educational field trip to our Nations Capital in Washington DC 18-22 April 2019. These Army JROTC Cadets will be conducting research prior to and during the trip and presenting their findings and reflections on their learning in three areas. They are the 3 branches of government, military history and areas of cultural significance. This will involve visits to the White House, Congress, Supreme Court, The Pentagon, Arlington National Cemetery, The National Mall, The Smithsonian Air and Space Museum and The International Writers Museum. Upon return to school the Cadets will assemble and give a presentation on their findings and reflections to their classmates, principals and JROTC leaders.
This trip involves 10 high school students, grades 10-12, and two chaperones flying from Denver to DC, hotels, meals, entry fees, METRO fees and return flights. Total cost of this trip is $11, 400. (Airfare $3,050.00, Hotel $3,425.00, Food $3905.00 at per diem, entry fees and transportation $1000.) Through grants, pledges and other fund raising conducted by the kids, we currently have $7,400 raised towards our trip. Our kids are really looking forward to and excited about this incredible opportunity to learn about our nation by immersing themselves into the heart of the capital, experience and learn life skills involved in travelling not normally afforded to high school students and grow as a team. We cannot express in words how grateful we are for any and all help in reaching our goal.
