On June 29, a moving truck holding the household goods of an Army family caught fire due to a mechanical issue with the brakes on the main trailer, causing it to burn and block traffic on the I-64 for many hours. They
This family of 7 has tried to remain in good spirits despite knowing that they are starting in a new home at a new base with nothing, but they are facing some serious costs in replacing their items.

The moving company will only reimburse the total loss up to $75k, and their personal insurance will only cover a small amount more than that.  In all, they are going to receive approximately 1/3 of the value of their goods, which included military memorabilia from 30 years of service, numerous pieces of furniture from their time in Germany, and all of the kids belongings. They are facing a loss of between $150,000-$200,000 that will not be reimbursed from the moving company, private insurance, or the Army.

Please consider a donation to help this family get back on their feet and start over again!

We are just shy of the $60,000 mark!
As you may or may not know, I was the next-door neighbor for the family that lost their entire PCS shipment in a fire during the moving process (United/Mayflower trailer caught on fire due to faulty brakes). As a currently serving Marine Corps officer myself (who has made many government-funded moves), it was devasting to know such an incredible family had lost everything, which is why I set up this GoFundMe page.
The entire fund will be made available to the family (Tony S) immediately via electronic withdrawal to help with their rebuilding process.
