Army Family In Need Of Reliable Car

Donation protected
Greetings, We’re Kyle and Christine Malone and we need help. I am an Active Duty Army Soldier and am currently going through the Medical Evaluation Board process for a series of chronic physical and mental conditions. The Military is pushing back on what conditions make me unfit for duty and the percentage each condition is worth. My primary condition results in chronic scrotal and testicular pain. I have had four surgeries to try to correct the condition including having one testicle removed. I have served two tours in Afghanistan and one in Iraq. I sustained a knee injury in Iraq and a Shoulder injury in Afghanistan. Both injuries resulted in surgeries and months of physical therapy. Both are still painful and limit my physical abilities. I suffer from PTSD and multiple head injuries in the line of duty in addition to one sustained in a November 2019 car accident. As such, I am unlikely to be able to get a job that will sustain my family. I am working as hard as I can to ensure my formal board goes well, but we must be prepared for all possible outcomes. There is a chance that the Military deems my conditions not worth enough for medical retirement and I could lose all of my family's healthcare coverage. My wife is a stay at home mother who helps care for both myself and our 6yo son Lucas who is special needs. Due to my conditions and head injuries I am not able to drive more than a few miles, so Christine does the majority of the driving for medical appointments, therapy, groceries, Lucas’s school, and anything else more than a mile or two away from the house. Our lives are not going well and we’re facing a lot of uphill battles financially knowing that I will be losing a large portion of my pay regardless of medical separation. We had intended on starting a campaign to help raise money to reduce our debt so that my future disability checks would be more likely to sustain us. However, because of the many medical and behavioral health appointments my son and I have, we need to ask for help now and for a more immediate cause. We are unsure if my wife will ever be able to work a full-time job given my limitations and dependency on her to drive. To make matters worse, in November of 2019 we were in a motor vehicle accident that totaled our 2010 Chevy Cobalt. My wife and I both sustained injuries including a head injury that I am still struggling to recover from The other party was at fault and their insurance valued the car enough to pay it off and leave us a little extra which we put towards debt. We had one other vehicle, a 2012 Chevy Equinox, that recently suffered a catastrophic engine failure. It requires a new engine and related works to repair. The costs are massive and we cannot afford them. Additionally, we currently owe just over $3,260 on the car. We are asking to raise $7,300 to pay off what we owe on our Equinox and leave us roughly $4,000 to put towards a safe and reliable used car. We have found several vehicles in our area that range from $4,000 to $6,000 and while I do not wish to add more debt to our finances, we must have a reliable car for multiple medical and behavioral health appointments a week between me and my son. I understand that times are hard for many people across the country and our world. I know that there are people in dire need, and I don’t take for granted the generosity afforded to me by your help. Every dollar counts, and I will provide proof of every transaction related to this situation and ensure you every dime will go towards the stated cause. If you are unable to give would you please consider sharing our campaign with friends, family, churches, Military units, or other communities? We appreciate your consideration and help. Forever Grateful, Kyle, Christine, and Lucas Malone
