Helping Armley’s Wildlife: A Lifeline for Local Animals
The Mission
My name is Stephanie, and I run Armley Wildlife Rescue. My life is dedicated to the rehabilitation of local wildlife—from garden birds to small mammals—ensuring they get a second chance at life in the wild.
The Reality of My Situation
I do this work while living with many chronic disabilities on a low income. While my passion for these animals is limitless, my personal funds are not. Currently, I am facing mounting pressure from future vet bills, which have reached £1000, alongside the ongoing costs of specialized medications, basic supplies and species-specific nutrition.
The "Kindness" Gap
One of the biggest challenges I face is when well-meaning people find injured wildlife and try to care for them at home. While their hearts are in the right place, holding onto these animals long-term without professional knowledge often leads to:
Irreversible health issues (such as metabolic bone disease).
Extensive, costly treatments that could have been avoided with early intervention.
A significantly lower life span or inability to ever return to the wild.
By the time these animals reach me, they often require emergency care and expensive medications just to survive the mistakes made by those who held on meaning well.
How You Can Help
Your donations will go directly toward:
Settling our vet bill so we can continue receiving professional medical support.
Stocking life-saving medications and treatments for incoming rescues.
Specialized food and supplies for different stages of avian growth.
Every pound helps me keep the doors open for the poor birds that struggle. Even if you can’t donate, sharing this page with the Leeds community makes a massive difference.
Thank you for helping me protect our local wildlife.
