Some news stops you in your tracks.

Imagine being told that, while your mind will stay sharp, your body will gradually stop obeying you. Imagine hearing that while you have two daughters, aged 5 and 9, who still need their dad.

Imagine those two little girls growing up watching their dad fight with everything he has — facing the biggest challenge of his life.

Imagine hearing that your close colleague, dear friend, teammate — has been diagnosed with ALS.

How would you feel? A moment of disbelief, followed by a deep desire to do something.

This is our something.

Why We Are Asking For Your Help?
We — his colleagues and friends — refuse to let Enno and his family face this alone. That is why we have created this fundraiser. And that is why, from 5 to 10 September, we are lacing up our cycling shoes.

We will be riding from MSC Belgium in Antwerp (MPET terminal) all the way to MSC Netherlands in Rotterdam (ECT Delta terminal), passing through Schoonhoven — Enno's former hometown — and finishing at MSC Germany in Hamburg. Six days of cycling, connecting every place that tells his story — and doing it on our legs, to step in physically where Enno, unfortunately, can no longer do so.

Every kilometer, from 5 to 12 September, is dedicated to him.

Help us reach our goal before we cross the finish line in Hamburg.

We want to be fully transparent: every euro raised will go directly where it matters most — supporting Enno and his family through this incredibly difficult time, and funding ALS research so that others in the future won't have to face this diagnosis without hope.

Please be assured that none of the donations made through GoFundMe will be used to finance the cycling initiative itself. The costs of the ride are covered by our sponsors. All funds raised through GoFundMe will be allocated to charitable purposes.

Who Is Enno?
Enno has been part of the Mediterranean Shipping Company family for over 16 years, working across MSC Netherlands and MSC Germany with a dedication that earned him the respect of everyone around him. But ask his colleagues what they remember most, and it's not just his work ethic — it's him. A hard worker, yes. But also the most chilled person in the room, with a big heart and the kind of calm, genuine warmth that makes people feel at ease.

He is the colleague you are glad to have. The friend you can count on.
But above all, Enno is a devoted partner and a proud father of two little girls — aged 5 and 9. Two daughters who look up to their dad every single day.

The Reality of ALS!
ALS — Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis — is a progressive and incurable neurological disease. It gradually takes away a person's ability to move, speak, swallow, and eventually breathe. There is no cure. And it does not wait.

For Enno, the disease is already making itself known. Physical symptoms have begun to appear, and the family has recently started renovating their home in Bremen to adapt to his changing needs. Think about that for a moment — a family with two young girls, remodeling their home not by choice, but by necessity. That is the reality ALS forces upon you.

The emotional weight is immense. The financial burden on top of it is crushing.

Please Help Us Help Enno

You may not know Enno personally. But you can still show up for him, the way he always showed up for others. ALS affects thousands of people and families around the world — and yet it remains poorly understood and underfunded. By supporting this campaign, you are not only helping Enno. You are helping shine a light on a disease that desperately needs more attention and more research.

We ride on 5 September. Will you be with us before we reach Bremen?

Please donate. Share this page. Spread the word about ALS.

Arm in arm, shoulder to shoulder — let's show Enno, his partner, and his two little girls that they will never face this alone. Because no disease, however cruel, can take away the power of people who refuse to look away.
