Hello, and welcome to my colorful life!
Before getting to the purpose of the fundraising, let's go back to July of 2011. It was a crazy, hot, sunny day. My brother and I were very bored and didn't know what to do. So, my mother dug into our toy box and found a Rubik's cube that she had left there in the 1990s. The colors of the cube, the patterns, the world of combinations, and the mystery grabbed my attention. It took me a week to learn how to solve it with the help of my mom and very few tutorials on the web. I started timing my solves and my solving time was down to 30 seconds in just 1 year.
It was 2015 when I noticed a Rubik's cube competition was organized in Georgia (the country) and we had never been there. So, we did a family trip and I participated in a Rubik's cube competition. Something was telling me that I'm not the only Rubik's cube enthusiast in Armenia. I wish someone organized a competition in Armenia.
In 2018, a representative from the World Cube Association (like the Olympic committee, but for Rubik's Cube com[petitions) decided to travel to Armenia. In February 2018, with the help of my father and aunt, I organized the first-ever Rubik's Cube competition in Armenia! It was a dream come true. 50 competitors showed up, and the community was born.
2019, I'm drafted for mandatory military service for 2 years. In a very rural village, I visit a gift store, and I notice a scrambled Rubik's cube on the shelf. I picked it up and solved it. 2 minutes later, I was surrounded by everyone who worked in nearby shops and stores. They had never seen someone who could solve it. I bought it and continued practicing during my military service.
2020, a war hit Artsakh, and the whole military base was bombed by artillery and missiles. Life turned black. The Rubik's cube in my pocket was the only colorful thing left in life.
2021. Back home, I still have the will to live, study, thrive, and continue to organize Rubik's cube competitions. And there it went: AUA Open 2021...
2022: Georgia Open, Armenian National Cubing Competition.
2023. After countless emails, trips to Tbilisi, time and resources spent, I became a representative of the World Cube Association in Armenia. And more competitions followed; Yerevan Open, Brusov Side Events, Armenia Open, Caucasus Open.
2023 August. I made a life-changing trip to South Korea and became the first Armenian to attend a Rubik's Cube World Championship in history!
2024 February. I am in the United States for an exchange program. I participate in the Naticube 2024 cubing competition in Natick, MA. In the 2nd round of 3x3 I broke Armenian National Record for solving the Rubik's cube, the result was 7.77 seconds!
2024 JULY.
With your help, I will be in Pamplona, Spain, raising the Armenian flag at the opening ceremony of the Rubik's WCA European Championship, which is going to be an even bigger competition than the World Competition in South Korea. 1250 competitors from 64 countries, and one of them will be Armenia.
2025 July. I will be organizing the Armenian National Cubing Competition with at least 200 cubers from all regions in Armenia. I will use the skills of organizing big competitions that I got in Spain and Korea, it will be the beginning of a new era for cubing in Armenia!
