Alright well, here's a side of me that no one really gets to see and I'm a bit scared to show it

In May, I’ll be having bariatric sleeve surgery. This isn’t random and it’s definitely not a trend — it’s something I’ve thought about carefully and worked toward for a long time. I’m doing this to seriously invest in my long-term health, mobility, and future. I've taken many pathways to help myself and those can only take me so far before I need a little more help.

Here’s the part I don’t usually talk about:

I’ve always hidden my health struggles because I never wanted sympathy or to worry the people around me. I’d much rather crack a joke, keep things light, and just enjoy being with you. Being open about what’s actually going on with me? That part is new too me.

Over the last couple of years, I focused heavily on my mental health. I took leave from work and honestly shut myself away from the world for a while so I could do the work I needed to do. It wasn’t easy — but it changed me. I’m in a much better place now, and this level of openness wouldn’t have been possible before. Taking care of myself taught me something important: when I show up for myself, I can show up better for everyone I love.

Now for the part that makes me uncomfortable. For those that know me on a much deeper level know these three words are hard for me to say. I need help.

Even with insurance, the out-of-pocket costs add up quickly. I’m hoping to raise $2,000 to help cover expenses related to the procedure and help me out while im out of work for a couple of weeks. My partner can't take of us both an a single income and whatever help I get would benefit the both of us. If you’re able to donate or even share this page, I would be incredibly grateful. A word of encouragement to hype me up before I go through with this would also be greatly appreciated too.
