Anyone who knows Armando, knows he's the sweetest, most caring and thoughtful person you could ever be around. He is loved by all those that surround him. He would go out of his way for anybody and everybody. He has his own struggles in life, but you'd barely even know it because he walks through life with a positive attitude and smile.
In 1999, he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. The news was heart breaking but with the love and support from our family, he didnt let that discourage him from the life he led. He knew it'd be a hard battle but was willing to fight. In 2004, he underwent his first major procedure and received a pacemaker. It gave us all hope as a family that we could beat this and have him around for years to come. In 2014, nearly 10 years later, he received the LVAD device, which granted him more time to be with the ones he loved. It has been a long journey for him but he remained positive and didnt let anything hold him down. He has been on the waitlist for a transplant since he was first diagnosed with his heart failure and even though we remained hopeful, we knew a heart transplant was a one in a million type of opportunity.
HOWEVER, on August 10, 2015, he received the long awaited phone call from UCSF telling him they had a heart ready for him. After years of waiting and almost never thinking it would happen, he underwent a rigourous 14 hour surgery for a new heart. He has a long road to recovery ahead of him but with the continuing love and support from us all, he will overcome this final challenge in his long battle.
This is where we ask our loved ones, to extend a helping hand. With the permission from my family, we have started this GoFundMe page to help cover Armandos medical expenses. Part of the recovery includes relocating to San Francisco for a few months so the doctors can keeo a close eye on his progress. This includes having to go to blood work and living no more than 30 minutes away from the hospital so he can be admitted immediately should any problems arise. We are asking for donations to help our family in any way possible through this tough time. Any help, is much appreciated.
Thank you and please keep Armando in your prayers. God Bless!!!
