This week, the Mejia family learned more about Armando's cancer. He has stage 4 upper intestinal cancer and it has spread to his liver. The duodenal cancer he has is very rare, but there are treatmens that can help put him into a stage of remission by shrinking the tumors. Right now they are working to get him approved to go to City of Hope for treatment through their insurance. They've met with two different oncologists and without a doubt, City of Hope stood out more in terms of treatments they offer and their level of compassion they have for their patients. He was switched to a PPO insurance but it will not kick in until July 1. The insurance will not allow him to go anywhere for him to receive the best treatment for his cancer without any more hurdles that they've been dealing with for the past few weeks. This GoFundMe is intended to help lessen the burden of the bills they are already receiving that have exceeded the insurance coverage. City of Hope will offer the best treatment options to get him into a stage of remission and help him to get strong again.
