Hi I am Fiona and as many of you know I am a British born Sri Lankan and flew home from
Sri Lanka a few days ago . During my trip my family and I visited Arlow children’s orphanage a home for 30 boys who have no family of their own to love and care for them. Sri Lanka has over 400 orphanages where children as young as 7 years old live . Arlow is just one of many.
Despite how poor these children are, they are loved by a community who do what they can to keep them safe, and give them reminders that they are children who deserve what any child deserves a happy childhood.
At the home they have a fridge freezer , their chest freezer however is broken and was something they heavily relied on to freeze food . This has led to waste when quite frankly they can’t afford to waste anything.
We realised that having something so simple like milk is a huge problem , fresh milk ( long life ) is very costly but our plan is to donate milk on a regular basis which can be frozen.
It would also be so nice to have ice cream or an ice lolly every so often after all that’s what children do right ?
So please give what ever you can however small it will make such a difference .
thank you
