Arlington Ridge Roofing Couple
Donation protected
If you are a resident of Arlington Ridge or SummerGlen, there is a very good chance you have seen an older couple roofing in your community. We have come to know them and our hearts go out to them after seeing them work 7 days a week in the scorching heat. They immigrated from Czech/Poland, obtained citizenship and established careers as roofers. They are now in late 50s continuing to do the only thing they know.
Just recently, due to the heat, Elizabeth blacked-out, fell from the roof and was taken to the hospital where she was told she had several bone fractures and a long recovery ahead. Her roofing career now ended and her husband now being the sole bread winner. They have been a team all their life so this will be hard for him to lose his work partner.
While they have worked hard all of their lives, they live paycheck to paycheck because the roofing business has become very competitive with square pricing actually declining over the years. After some investigation, we learn that they purchased their doublewide mobile home new 23 years ago and after making payments all those years, still owed around $25,000 today. They were unaware that their mortgage was at 12.5% and now their trailer is too old to secure refinancing.
America is a great place, has great opportunities, but it can still be a struggle for some. This couple have had to work very hard, in extreme heat, to put a roof over our heads. And, now with the accident, the struggle so much greater. They now need our help. They are unaware of this GoFundMe effort. They are too prideful to ever ask for help. But help them we should. Please give what you can and become a supporting contributor by engaging others you know in this worthy effort.
