Arles & Boggs Vegan Eatery & The Sharif Family

Hi, if you’re here, that means you love Arles and Boggs Vegan Eatery as much as I do! My name is Kayla, and Sarah is my best friend, and I want to help her succeed and thrive. As you know, A&B is a BIPOC family-owned, neurodivergent run, and woman-operated business in Wallingford, CT preparing from scratch the most delicious, ethnically diverse and comforting vegan eats that you can find. The team is made up of all spectrums of backgrounds and abilities, and they NEED our help!! No amount is too small because remember the journey of a thousand miles starts with one step. The Sharif family has gone through some tremendous hurdles the last couple months, and that’s all after having to survive during the pandemic. Against all the odds they made it through COVID restrictions, quarantines, staff changes, and a near fatal health scare from both parents. Now the unexpected early delivery of the newest team member of the A&B Family Ms. Margo Francis Moon.
Sarah the brains and octopus hands of the operation was a vital member of the team. Sarah is disabled and incapable of working right now. She is very sick with serious Lupus flares, C-Section recovery, and round the clock pumping to nourish her tiny little 2.5lb baby sloth, who despite all odds has a serious appetite. She cannot contribute the way that she used which was in every single capacity from cooking, to washing dishes, creating schedules, answering phones, handy woman, and much more.
With all of the sudden staff changes and valued veteran staff members moving on to other endeavors, Arles & Boggs is facing their biggest challenge yet, the fight to stay alive and keep slinging those yummy vegan treats you all love some much. This is all sudden and unplanned as Ms. Frankie Moon was not expected until October. The last bit of time that she had left before Margo’s due date was going to be used to hire, train and staff the restaurant for when she went out on maternity leave but that was tragically lost due to an unfortunate and life-threatening case of preeclampsia. For anyone who is not aware Sarah suffers from a host of autoimmune diseases with Lupus being the main culprit. The pregnancy caused her body to attack the most precious life force for Margo, our amazing Sarah, and it was the scariest moment of my life hearing how I could have lost of my best friend. After being close to the brink of human strength and lots of loopy and sickening magnesium treatments Margo made her way to the world on July 21st at just 29 weeks old, thankfully safe, and more healthy than expected. Sarah unfortunately had it a lot harder than Marge. She was very sick in the hospital for almost 10 days after giving birth to her baby girl, and while she’s entirely gracious and in her baby love bubble, she is suffering daily from pain and residual side effects of her wonderful but taxing and traumatic arrival of precious Moonie pie.
Arles and Boggs has been tremendously generous to the community of Wallingford since they opened with donations of catering, monetary contributions, and gift certificates to various events around town. Some of the contributions include collaborations to Sleepy Pig Farm, local politicians, Holy Trinity Church and Wallingford high school committee, donations to local animal rescues, Dogtoberfest, and Master’s Manner food pantry. She even collaborated with Nate Russell to provide care packages during the pandemic. She goes out of her way to assistant patrons who can’t cover the cost of their bill, made house calls with deliveries because Uber Eats dropped the ball, and has even named dishes on the menu after regular customers. She has never done any of this for recognition and she would probably be way to modest to even ever promote these things which is why I am now today, to show you how tremendously generous and loving she is. So please, please, please, if you have anything to spare, please leave it down below and I promise it will come back to you tenfold.
Also Sarah is a single mother and raising Margo on her own. She is struggling financially and did not have time to have a baby shower, so she has had to purchase a lot of essential items on her own. If you would also like to be inclined to purchase a gift for Margo Francis Moon, I am including a link to her registry that I forced Sarah to make.
