Arlene the cancer fighting Queen!

Hello everyone!

My name is Jessie Mabie and I am Arlene Mabies Daughter in law. Recently Arlene has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer that has spread into her bones. We are raising money to do a couple of things for Arlene.

#1 on the list is remodel her bathtub/shower to a walk in shower. Arlene is unable to lift her leg over the side of her tub, so we need to remove the tub and shower, and put in an insert that is easily accessible for her.

Arlene also needs some ramps, railings, stools, and grab bars that her son can install in her house to make it more safe for her. Also, she needs some significant dental work in order to get a medication that can help strengthen the bone where the cancer has eaten away, to help reduce her chance of fracture, and to help reduce her pain. She does not have dental insurance.

Arlene has been paying for everything out of pocket so far, as Medicare is really slow to help, and the things she has already bought and paid for, she needed right now.

She is doing palliative treatments in Rhinelander currently, which is 1.5 hours from her home on a good day, one way. We are there for appointments a couple times a week. We found out yesterday her one medications copay they want $1000 a month!

Those of you who know Arlene, know how incredibly generous and kind she is and always has been. She has always been the first to volunteer to help anyone in need. She was a volunteer fire fighter for 35 years. A lot of you remember her from when she worked at the school and the library and all the lives she touched in her careers.

I have had many people reach out asking how they can help, and this is something big she could use help with.
