Arlee Rodgers SDR Surgery Fund

Donation protected
Arlee Rodgers was born 7 weeks early. Although she spent her first 26 days in the NICU at Sparrow Hospital we were given no indication that there would be any lasting impact. It wasn't until more than a year later we had any idea anything was going on. Arlee was diagnosed with Cerebal Palsy at two years old. CP creates extra tone or tightness in the muscles of her legs. This extra tone makes it difficult for her to balance and walk. She has worked very hard to get where she is today. Arlee has therapy during school and after at Sparrow. She has come a long way, but we have decided to go ahead with a procedure called Selective dorsal rhizotomy. The short version is they will go in through her back and sever the nerves that cause the tightness in her legs. After the surgery she will have to learn how to walk again. She will be in intesive inpatient rehab in Grand Rapids, about an hour away, for up to six weeks. Jynel will need to be off work for that time to be with her, and unfortunately most of that time of will not be paid. We started this campaign so that we can make that happen. Money raised will be used to replace some of Jynel's missing income as well as for transportation to and from Mary Free Bed. Arlee was approved for the surgery today and we should have a date set by next week. The surgeon is trying to arrange everything so it can happen sooner than later.

Thank you!
