I'm raising funds for myself, Arlando Muhammad, after losing my job in school transportation and facing serious financial hardship while I continue pursuing my case.
For more than a decade, I worked in student transportation, including with Dallas ISD starting in November 2018 as a bus driver, monitor, and special-needs transportation worker. Student safety was part of my responsibility, and I took that seriously. In 2025, I began seeing buses that were dangerously overcrowded. At one point, there were more than 50 students on a single bus, with children forced to sit or squat in the aisle. I filed more than 20 written safety complaints. Dispatch also asked me to document student counts for a full week, and I did. Even so, the overcrowding continued for about three months without being corrected.
In November 2025, I was suspended. In February 2026, I was terminated. I filed a grievance and appealed through every level, and I am now pursuing discrimination and retaliation claims through the EEOC. I'm not asking anyone to decide the case. I'm asking for help while the full record is examined, including my complaints, the District's response, and whether I was treated lawfully.
Since losing my job, which was my primary source of income, I've been effectively blacklisted for about a year. I have applied for security, transportation, and other work, but the bills have not stopped. I am now facing overdue bills and the very real possibility of eviction and homelessness.
How donations will help: Every contribution will go toward overdue bills, housing costs, and basic living expenses while this process continues. Because these needs continue over time, recurring donations would provide steady help in keeping a roof over my head and covering essential expenses as I search for work and move through this case. One-time donations are also deeply appreciated and would make an immediate difference.
