Hi, this is Arkham.
He is a cheeky 9 month old Maine coon who is adored by his family.
After saving to go away on a small family getaway, we came home to find our boy had not been eating or using the litter tray.
After watching him rapidly decline becoming lethargic and vomiting the day after we got home, we decided to take him into an emergency vet at 10pm. He was severely dehydrated, lacking electrolytes and it was starting to harm his kidneys. The fee for overnight IV fluids and electrolytes, bloods and medication was $1726 for just 12 hours. And still no answers.
By this point Arkham had already lost over 10% of his body weight.
We picked Arkham up from the emergency vet and transferred him to our local vet. They suggested we keep him on fluids for 24 hours atleast, do another round of bloods and x rays. Unfortunately after looking brighter that afternoon by the next day he started to decline again.
They decided on emergency surgery where they found 2 foreign bodies inside of his stomach that they had to remove. (Arkham had found 2 small foam balls from a kids toy under our couch and ate them).
Arkham spent the next day in the vet recovering and we were able to pick him up the following afternoon.
The bill for our local vet was $3107
Unfortunately I had decided to wait until after our holiday to add Arkham to our family pet insurance account and so now I am here asking for help paying off the money we had to borrow to pay for his life saving surgery.
Arkham is on his way to a full recovery and is now sporting an awesome scar and a super cool haircut
I myself have donated what I could many times to help out families with injured pets so I thought I’d try my chances asking in return.
I will be grateful for any help.
