Arkansas Family Needs Help After Disaster
Donation protected
Family home damaged by flood and by water backing up from sewage into water lines into bathroom for 20 hours. Over 500 gallons were baled out of the family home in St. Francis County, Arkansas. Floors and walls damaged. Mold found on walls, flooring, and inside of return for central heat and air unit. Family was underinsured. Insurance will not cover even a fourth of damage. Dad is disabled, Mom lost her job due to running out of leave from 2 ankle surgeries since November. Mom has autoimmune deficiency, immune suppressed because of biological medicine, fibromyalgia, and fell night of the flooding and hurt her knee. Oldest daughter in college, and youngest daughter has multiple chronic conditions including autoimmune deficiency disorder.
Mom and little one can't enter the home until all mold and contaminated materials are torn out and cleaned. We need temporary housing, medicine, food, repairs, and materials to rebuild. Our church has been so wonderful to us. They made sure we have had temporary housing the last two weeks, fed us meals, and prayed for us. They also found foster parents for our dog and two cats. I've applied for help everywhere and have not had any news yet. Those avenues don't get in a hurry. We have applied with Red Cross and Salvation Army and nothing so far. Mom has applied for many jobs and received not one job offer. Must be sedentary work because of ankle and leg.
Oldest daughter and husband have medical. The youngest and Mom do not because of losing her job. Both have high costs on monthly medicines. Mom has gotten an upper respiratory infection and a bad cough. If you find it in your heart to give, this family will be a good steward of your gift. The Bible says we have not because we ask not. Thank you!!
